This means we need to work our way from the inactive ATOM validator set into the active set. This endeavor requires ATOM tokens and collaboration with delegators like you.
We need your support. In this ATOM staking tutorial, we will guide you on how to stake using Leap wallet and how to switch validators by redelegating to us while we are still in the inactive set.
Stake Cosmos ATOM Using Leap Wallet
Leap is the newest Cosmos wallet on the block, but has quickly become one of the most-preferred. Leap mobile is pretty simple to use and Leap extension is set up to look the exact same as mobile.
Using both versions of Leap wallet, we will show you how to stake with an inactive ATOM validator and show you how to switch validators and redelegate ATOM to us while we are inactive.
Fortunately, choosing an inactive validator using Leap wallet is the same process as selecting an active validator to stake with. They make it simple.
FIRST: If you are not currently staking ATOM we will show you how to stake with us while inactive.
SECOND: If you are already staking ATOM tokens we will show you how to move your stake from your current validator over to us at Atlas Staking. That process is called, “Redelegating” and only takes a few seconds.
How To Stake ATOM (with an inactive validator)

Please DO NOT stake with wallet provider validators, centralized exchange validators, or the largest validators on ANY network. Huge validators are terrible for network security.

Is staking ATOM risky?
Staking is probably the safest way to generate income from your crypto holdings. Plus, ATOM uses a staking module instead of a staking smart contract, so it’s safer than other ecosystems. The biggest risk would be slashing. If your validator double signs a block 5% of the entire stake is slashed as a penalty and the validator is permanently removed from the set. If the validator is simply offline for too long the penalty is 0.01%, which is usually pennies to most stakers.
Where do I stake my ATOM tokens?
Staking ATOM using a noncustodial wallet, like Ledger will offer the highest yield and give you the most flexibility. You can claim airdrops too by using Keplr, Leap or Cosmostation.
Avoid staking with centralized exchanges, like Kraken, Coinbase and Binance because of their high commissions, network dominance, and difficulty in accessing your tokens.
Do I have to unstake to switch validators?
Nope! You do not have to unbond your tokens to change validators. You simply “redelgate” in your wallet. You can only redelegate once every 21 days.
